What is CeFA?

CeFA stands for The Certificate for Financial Advisers (CeFA®)

Who needs to get CeFA?

Financial services sector regulation requires financial advisers in the UK to be appropriately qualified. The Certificate for Financial Advisers (CeFA®) is recognised as a qualification that will allow individuals with no other financial services qualifications to meet this requirement and so obtain a 'licence to practise'. CeFA® is designed to ensure that wherever a financial adviser is located in the UK they have access to the same high quality educational input and assessment opportunities. Employers from across the sector have been involved in its development. This ensures that the content provides students with the knowledge they require in order to meet current and future career/regulatory requirements.

Why is CeFA popular in the UK?

1. Good earnings: A typical mortgage adviser is likely to be earning between £35k and £60k OTE depending on ability, work ethic, and their company. There are a number of high flying advisers earning £80k to £100k, but it has to be said that these are the high earners in the industry.

2. Working in a decent financial industry: The jobs are available within National Banks and Building Societies, large mortgage intermediaries, the largest networks in the UK, and also with smaller companies, and independent mortgage intermediaries.

3. Working as self employed as you wish: This is one career where your earnings really do depend on your own efforts and aspirations.

What is the entry requirement?

There are no entry requirements for the ifs School of Finance's Level 3 Certificate for Financial Advisers (CeFA®).
